Library Hacks for New TLs

Rhea and Emily will walk participants through a variety of hacks that have helped in their library learning commons spaces. This short presentation will allow plenty of opportunity for new TLs to ask questions regarding the operations and learning in their space.

  • Rhea Woolgar

Rhea is the Teacher Librarian at Shas Ti Kelly Road Secondary School in Prince George, BC. She loves connecting students and staff with the resources and skills they need to learn and succeed. When she is not in her learning commons, you can find Rhea cross-country skiing or learning to play guitar.

  • Emily Huang

Emily Huang is a Teacher-Librarian in the Langley School District. She completed her Masters of Education with a specialty in Teacher-Librarianship through the University of Alberta in 2020 and she is currently in her eighth year at Blacklock Fine Arts Elementary Library. Emily enjoys collaborating with everyone, and her passion is dreaming up wild literacy events to foster a love of reading within her school community and beyond. Emily uses yearly themes to set up her library which often become the theme for the entire school.  For the 2021 - 2022 year, her library has transformed into “Middle Earth” as she reads The Hobbit as a shared read aloud for the entire school… while creating a gentler, abridged version for her primary students.
