How Diverse Is Your Collection? Running a Diversity Audit in a School Library Learning Commons

Equity is not something we “do” every once in a while, but rather the lens through which we intentionally plan and carry out our vision of the LLC. Our patrons deserve and need to see themselves in literature, and it’s clear that having a wide variety of representations, experiences and perspectives can foster empathy for all.

So how diverse is your collection?

A diversity audit is a thorough review, or inventory, of items in the LLC. The goal is to determine which items are diverse, and in what ways, and what gaps exist in order to develop a more diverse collection. A diversity audit is equity in action.

This session is open to both TLs new to Diversity Audits as well as for those already completing one.  Join the conversation to discuss how to run an audit, what to do with the data, and how to use the data to inform practice
