Designing LLC Environments that invite Engagement

In this workshop, participants will engage in discussion and explore ideas around the design of flexible learning spaces in a future-forward Library Learning Commons. Our focus will be driven by the Leading Learning Standards of Practice and will include:

• Designing physical spaces for collaboration and student engagement

• Designing for creativity and innovation

• Designing spaces for integrating accessible technology

Recently updated libraries from SD38 Richmond (BC) will be featured! We'll walk you through the design elements that may inspire a fresh perspective and new design-thinking for your LLC spaces.

  • Rebeca Rubio

    Rebeca Rubio is the Curriculum Coordinator for Libraries and Information Services in SD38 (Richmond)She supports Teacher Librarians in developing programs, redesigning flexible spaces and developing culturally responsive Library Learning Commons. She also manages and maintains the District Resource Centre, acquiring and circulating valuable resources for all SD38 educators. She is actively engaged in exploring student engagement, multiple literacies and diversity and equity in LLCs.
