Through a TL book club focusing on the book Hacking School Libraries by Holweiss & Evans we were inspired to try new ways to promote reading and create a culture of readers at our middle and secondary schools. We know that interest and participation in reading tend to drop off starting in middle school and that many students do not identify as readers once they get to and finish high school. We wanted to see what we could do to change this pattern and will be sharing our journey through this session. We will share what worked, what didn’t work so well and what we saw happen at our schools. The last third of the workshop will be reserved for a rountable discussion and sharing of ideas.
